Beard makes the man. Even though many people may not want to admit it, a good beard looks good on almost any male face. Not only does a healthy beard make one look more attractive, but it also comes with a lot of benefits.

As a matter of fact, not only have researchers have shown that the ladies dig it, but science has proven time and again that a beard can actually be good for your health. Here are just some of the ways growing facial hair is beneficial to you in more ways than one.

However, not everyone is blessed with a perfect jawline and great facial hair growth like Chris Hemsworth. But that does not mean that we should stop ourselves from trying to look good. I have compiled a complete guide on the several things that you can try to stimulate beard growth, and get ready for No-Shave November!

The average human body grows hair at a rate of 1 inch per month. The amount of hair on one’s body entirely depends on different factors like diet, lineage, and multiple other factors: However, no man on Earth has been able to grow a beard in a single day. It can take anywhere from a month to several months to get enough hair on your face to be able to maintain a respectable beard. Nevertheless, that should not stop you from attempting to grow one.

However, the only downside to having a beard is that it takes quite some time for facial hair to look good. Usually, it takes at least 3 weeks for even the shortest of beards to start looking decent. This is where No-Shave November comes in!

Hey, what’s No-shave November?

No-Shave November is a fundraiser that has been organized for the past couple of years to spread awareness about Prostate Cancer. Since it coincides with Thanksgiving, most people refrain from shaving their beards during this month. This means that anyone attempting to grow a beard would not have to wait for over 3 weeks: They can shave once and see how much hair growth they get in the first month.

However, there are some other steps that can be taken to stimulate beard and mustache growth: Here is a list of the top ways to grow a better beard faster:

Why should you grow your beard out?

  1. A beard makes you look manly

It’s no secret that men have always been judged by their appearance. In fact, this has been the case since ancient times. And women still judge men by the way they look to this day. While a bald head or a short hairstyle may make you look more professional, no one can deny that a full beard makes you appear manly and more dominant than other men who prefer to shave.

  1. Beard makes you look more masculine

Although more men are starting to embrace their feminine side, most of them still want to appear as masculine as possible. And nothing says manliness like a full beard. You can’t go wrong with facial hair, whether it’s maintaining the same style or choosing to switch it up every now and then.

  1. Beards protect your face from the sun

Ever since the man started to go about in public, they have been exposed to a lot of sunlight. In fact, up until just a few decades ago when everyone began wearing sunscreen and hats every time they step out into the open, many men have been going around with their faces fully exposed to the sun.

As a matter of fact, this exposure has led to more cases of skin cancer in men compared to women because men have thicker and oilier skin than women. Hence, the reason why most dermatologists recommend that men grow beards today if they are not able to do so when they are young. A thick beard helps to protect your face from UV rays.

Things to try on your beard:

Here is a list of things that you can directly try on your face to get the best beard growth stimulation:

Gently massage your follicles:

The follicle is the part of the body that anchors the hair to the skin. In layman’s terms, it is the soil that holds the flag that you call a hair. One of the most common reasons why hair stops growing in a certain region is because the hair follicles get clogged with harmful substances like dirt. By gently massaging your follicles, you can slowly remove all germs from your body hair.

For your beard, this is even more effective: mainly because your cheek and chin have to openly embrace the dust particles that you receive when out in the open every day.

Apply beard oil:

We have all heard the stories that beard oil is a scam and that companies only use men’s insecurities to sell them expensive oil that does not even work. Beard oil does work, but not in the way that most people expect. It is supposed to provide the body with all the required nutrients that it needs to grow a beard properly. Some beard oils like Viking Revolution, Bossman, Cremo, and Jack Black are really great products that have received very good reception.

Check out the other oil-based products:

Many companies make beard oils. However, there are also many products that men can use for proper skin care that do not contain any oil. Some of these products include Eumovate, R US Oil Treatment, and Derma e Vitamin A & E cream. These products don’t just stimulate beard growth, but they also help to stop flaking and itching.

Stop shaving:

This one sounds pretty straightforward. If you ask any man why he shaves his face, the answer will always be “because I do not have a beard”. One of the best ways to get your beard growing is by actually NOT shaving. But only shaving the hair on your cheeks will not give you a full beard, so we recommend letting it grow out naturally.

Do NOT use Rogaine:

This is one of those products that almost everyone has seen through before actually buying and trying it. The product is essentially meant to stimulate the growth of hair follicles on the scalp. This product works really well when it is applied to the scalp, but applying it on facial hair can be bad news. It has side effects such as irritation and itching which almost everyone tries to avoid in a face wash.

Apply castor oil:

Castor oil is known for its amazing therapeutic effects. It stimulates the blood flow in the region that it has been applied to, and helps with the growth of new and old hair. Do not worry about applying too much of this stuff: you will never overdose through consumption.

Apply aloe vera:

To be honest, the best way to stimulate beard growth is by helping your body produce more natural oils. No product or oil will ever do this. Aloe vera is a perfect example of something that you can apply to your face and beard and help it grow faster. You can try applying aloe vera gel for between 8-12 weeks, and see the results yourself.

Use beard grooming products:

The moment you heard “beard grooming products” – your mind must have immediately rotated towards beard oils. You are not wrong. But beard oil is only one beard-grooming product. There are a few dozen more products that you should get yourself acquainted with. Some of these products are:

  • Beard balm conditioner – A good balm conditioner can not only soften the hair follicles to make it easy to massage, but also provides nutrients for the skin.
  • Beard wax – a great product that can be used to shape one’s beard and retain the shape for a prolonged period of times: until at least the end of the day.
  • Shaving set – A good pair of shaving machines and a handy hand to use these products will always help one maintain and improve beard growth.
  • Facial cleansing tool – a product that can not only clean the follicles but also provide fresh air for the hair and the skin.
  • Ingrown hair treatment products – products that can help fight back against bacteria as well as the loss of hair.
  • Beard shampoo – many people prefer using the average joe shampoo that they use on their heads for their hair. Though you might be perfectly fine with that, if you want the best growth, a beard shampoo may be a great choice.

Step by step guide on how to stimulate beard growth?

Here is a step-to-step guide on how to stimulate beard growth so you can have the best beard hair growth possible:

Step One: Aim for the star you are shooting:

The first step to doing something is to set standards. Figure out what kind of beard look you are going for. Do you want a grassy beard like Jim Carrey – something that is longer than your face; or do you want a simpler beard like Chris Evans?
Spend all the time you want thinking about the beard you want, and stick to that design. The brain-muscle link is very strong, and your future self will always thank your current self that was able to figure out the design of the beard.

Step Two: Keep calm, and slay your inner demons

The average human body grows hair at a rate of 1 inch per month. The amount of hair on one’s body entirely depends on different factors like diet, lineage, and multiple other factors: However, no man on Earth has been able to grow a beard in a single day. It can take anywhere from a month to several months to get enough hair on your face to be able to maintain a respectable beard.

Step Always: Never let anyone tell you your facial hair doesn’t suit you:

Even though many people want to change themselves, they will find themselves uncomfortable when other people close to the change. Changing one’s physical appearance such as rocking a beard, or shaving after having a beard for long will make other people uncomfortable.

Just because they are uncomfortable with you growing a beard does not mean that you should stop growing one. If you look at yourself in the mirror every day and find your facial hair good, you should be proud and rock the look you want.

I have an example from my life where this happened. I was in a bar with a couple of friends. And a new guy from in the group told me that “hey, you don’t fit with a beard”. I pretty much told him that I wasn’t growing my beard because of what guys think. He had a hard time understanding this statement.

The night went on, and after a few liquid courage’s drinks, he confessed that he was envious of my beard, and wished he could grow one as good himself.

So, there’s that for you! Keep faith in what you believe in :).

Step Three: Trim when needed:

The human body can only grow hair up to a certain extent. This is because hair is made up of Keratin – a type of protein. A body can only process and produce so much protein at once. Be ready to trim your newly-formed beard’s split ends when needed.

Other areas where your face might be needing some sort of trimming or shaving is below your chin, right on your neckline. The hair on your neckline will only make you uncomfortable, and only reduce the overall look of your beautiful beard.

Step Four: Be proud to have grown a beard:

Once you are done with all the previous steps, you will successfully have grown a beard beautiful enough that no one will ever say that you look bad in it. Even though some people will still not be used to your new look, you will be proud of what you have achieved.

Many have the gift to grow a beard, but not many can utilize this gift and grow a beard as majestic as you.

Final Thoughts:

I hope that this article was able to help you get closer to your Viking ancestors. If you have any queries about wanting to grow a better beard, I will always be ready to help you in the comment section. We rise as Viking and fall as Romans in this crusade, and there is nothing that can stop us from achieving our dreams.  The price you pay for looking good is too low compared to the incredible life you will be leading.

Remember: The best beard was once a little scary, and turned into an awesome gift; given not by gods but from within yourself. The road to bringing out this gift wasn’t easy – it always takes immense courage and patience. So never give up and always keep your dreams alive!
